Frank Bruni’s Bare-All

Publisher’s Weekly scored a coveted interview with food and restaurant aficionado Frank Bruni, published on their website today.

Not only does the interview come with a current picture of the critic (cute!), but it also exposes some little-known nuggets of the Bruni behind the NYTimes.

Bruni talks about the messier and more brutal relationship of food he’s had over the years. As he put it, “I’ve read a lot of gauzy and romantic food-related memoirs. You get this image of someone falling dreamily into a pile of fresh arugula. It occurred to me that, for the most part, people’s relationships to food were much more difficult.” He talk about his struggle to control compulsive eating and bulimia and to develop a healthy relationship with food.

Touching, forthright, and genuine, this interview has got me in a tizzy about his forthcoming autobiography!
