Sifton & the Classic French

Sam Sifton recently wrote a review of the La Grenouille that I felt compelled to share. He managed to evoke the romance and awe inspired by such old-school and traditional institutions as La Grenouille, classic and French since 1962.

I couldn’t help but remember the remarkably special dinners I used to have with my parents when we had a weekend in New York at La Caravelle, one of the long gone bastions of white-gloved French cuisine. Restaurants like La Grenouille deserve a unique and cherished spot in the dining scene not only for the reverant cuisine but also for the truly special dining experience they offer.

All for you to eat your heart out: http://events.nytimes.com/2009/12/23/dining/reviews/23rest.html
